[00:00:44] Now just like the other Reddit story that we did earlier this month, I have lightly skimmed all of these stories we're going to read. So, I'm kinda gonna get spooked with you, and as you can see I'm in a darker place this time, so, um, yeah. Let's get spooked, huh? We'll get into the paranormal Reddit stories right after this. [00:01:39] Let's start strong with the first one coming from just four days ago. And this was posted by the user MoonReef723. Recently, I was installing a coffee machine at a retirement home just off the main dining room. As it worked, I noticed an old woman with a cane wearing a faded pink shawl shuffling slowly toward me.

[00:02:06] In my experience, retirement home residents are often so starved for conversation that once they stop to chat, particularly with a new face, they tend to ramble on for quite a while. Now, I generally enjoy talking to old folks. They have great stories. But since I had limited amount of time to finish my install, I admit I was kind of dreading the inevitable conversation.

[00:02:31] However, when she finally made it over to where I was working, I put on a big smile and we began to chat. We, slash she, talked about random things for probably five minutes. At that point, I had to kneel under the counter to connect a drain line. I told her what I was about to do and assured her I was still listening to her story. When I stuck my head under the counter, she suddenly stopped talking.

[00:02:55] I assumed she was just waiting for me to finish, but when I pulled back and turned toward her, she was gone. It shocked me because I couldn't have been under the counter more than 10-15 seconds, but in that time, she somehow managed to disappear. Thinking she must have gone into the dining room, I poked my head around, corner, expecting to see her shuffling away. But again, she was nowhere in sight.

[00:03:23] Confused, but still in a time crunch, I just chalked it up as a weird occurrence and went back to work. Later, as the dietary manager was signing the paperwork, I mentioned the woman and commented on how mysteriously she disappeared. When the manager heard it, she paused, looked up from the paperwork and gave me a dubious look. Did someone tell you to say that? Surprised at the question, I replied with a chuckle, uh, no, why would you ask that?

[00:03:52] Rather than answer, she asked a question of her own. Was she carrying a wooden cane and wearing a pink shawl? When I nodded, the manager laughed and shook her head in disbelief. So, you meant Mrs. Theodore? She asked almost wistfully. I can't believe that. You've been here for what, an hour? I've been here over a year and I've never, ever seen her.

[00:04:17] Confused but curious, I asked what she meant and with a sigh, she told me the story. Apparently, Mrs. Theodore was a long-term resident who'd passed away back in 2010. Since then, according to the manager, at least a dozen staff members have reported seeing Mrs. Theodore shuffling down the hallways in her pink shawl. She'd been spotted sitting alone in the dining and recreation rooms many times.

[00:04:44] There's even stories of her talking with new staff members and warning them about other residents whose health was falling. Now, I can't confirm any of this, but I will say, as she was telling me the story, I knew it was true. I felt it in my bones. There's no other way to explain it. And that's it. That's the story.

[00:05:04] I realize it's not scary or exciting, but I'm absolutely convinced I had a five-minute conversation with the ghost of Abigail Theodore, 16 years after her death. When I go back here in August for a follow-up, you can bet I'll have tons of questions for the staff. And, Mrs. Theodore, wherever you are, feel free to stop and talk next time you see me. Aw, now that one was cute. That's a good way to start. That's a good way to start.

[00:05:33] We're not super spooked. It's like a little spooky. I mean, you have to imagine at a retirement home or an elderly home, unfortunately, these people are on their last breaths. And so, you do probably have a lot of spirits that almost either don't believe that they're gone or just don't want to cross over yet. And so, somebody like Mrs. Theodore is still there hanging around and even warning of other patients that are failing. I mean, that's really great.

[00:06:01] And it's a really sweet story that, you know, sometimes intelligent spirits are able to just have conversations and not just come out in spook or have questions about where they are and stuff like that. So, okay. That's a good one to start. That's a good one to start. I bet you the rest will not be that nice. So, good. Alright, this next is... Alright, this next one is from SolidEducational420. And it was posted two days ago.

[00:06:30] I'm the kind of person who doesn't believe in paranormal stuff. I usually look for a logical explanation first. But this is one of those stories that genuinely makes me question whether there was some scientific explanation behind it. A few years ago, my best friend was staying in a PG with three other girls. One of the roommates, let's call her Anya, always seemed a little unusual.

[00:06:55] Almost every night between 1am and 3am, Anya would suddenly sit upright on her bed and start talking. Everyone assumed it was sleep talking. And since it happened so often, they eventually stopped reacting to it. One day, while casually talking, Anya mentioned that she had seen a small child running around on the ground outside the building late at night.

[00:07:21] Everyone found it creepy but brushed it off, thinking maybe she had imagined it. Then one morning, around 5am, all three roommates woke up because their room was filled with smoke. When they asked what happened, she casually said she had woken up early and decided to do puja. It was strange but they let it go. Then came the final nail in the coffin.

[00:07:47] A few nights later, Anya went to sleep around 10pm like she always did. At around 1am, instead of sitting up and sleep talking, she slowly sat upright. She didn't say anything. She just smiled. My friend said it was the most disturbing smile she had ever seen. It looked unnaturally wide, almost like it didn't belong on a human face.

[00:08:15] Her eyes were completely red. Instead, it wasn't just one person's imagination or a nightmare. Both of them started crying in fear, panicking, and calling their parents because they genuinely had no idea what they were seeing. And she still kept staring at them with this disturbing smile. She continued to stare at them and the moment they started making loud noises out of panic, her smile disappeared.

[00:08:44] She looked completely normal again, as if she had no idea why everyone was terrified. And on confronting her, she kept telling that she did not know what she was doing. Neither of them felt safe staying in that room, so they spent the rest of the night sitting in the basement of the building. When they came back in the morning, Anya was gone. Her cupboard was locked.

[00:09:08] My friend and her roommates packed their bags and shifted to another PG, which is why the mystery still remains. Also, it was later found out from the owner that her previous roommates had also left because of her strange behavior. I know this sounds like something straight out of a horror movie, but I'm genuinely trying to understand what happened. I don't believe in paranormal things, which is why this story bothers me so much.

[00:09:37] I'm posting this because I genuinely want opinions." That one's weird. It reminds me of the movie, um, Smile. Because it's like, she's just sitting upright and smiling. Now, I guess there's a couple things that this could be. This could be a demonic possession, um, especially if the Anya person doesn't know what she's doing.

[00:10:04] Um, there's the glowing eyes and the smoke in the room and, and the same time always in the middle of the night. But it also could be that this is just someone who's into the occult, maybe. I, I'm not entirely sure what Puja is, um, and if that has to do with the occult. But it does sound like this could be some sort of a spiritual experience that this person keeps having over and over again.

[00:10:32] And maybe she does lose track of her memory or, you know, she doesn't know that this is happening in the middle of the night. But either way, I mean, I would not want to be staying somewhere and seeing this night after night. Oh, that is, that's creepy. Okay, that's a, that's a good creepy one to, to get us started. So, you know, hopefully your skin's crawling a little bit. Cause mine is, especially in this dark room. But let's go to the next one.

[00:10:58] So this next one was posted by bitter underscore article underscore 9678. And it was posted nine days ago. God is my witness. This story is true. There was a period in my life when I was doing terribly, both physically and mentally. I was in a rehabilitation facility. For the first two or three months, I had to share a room with someone else.

[00:11:25] Starting around the third month, I got my own single room. During that time, I was also prescribed medication. I tolerated it fairly well, but it made me terribly tired. Which is why I was always took it in the evening. There was one day when I took the medication earlier than usual and went to my room to go to sleep. The moment I stepped a foot in my room, I felt that something was wrong. Really wrong.

[00:11:54] But I really couldn't tell what. I watched some Netflix on my phone before this tiredness of medications kicked in and I laid down. I was sleeping on my right side with my head and face turned toward the wall. And my back facing the room. I entered that strange state where you're not fully awake, but not completely asleep either. And out of nowhere, I felt someone tap my shoulder from behind quite forcefully.

[00:12:22] And I know it wasn't my imagination because my shoulder actually moved from the impact. I turned around immediately and there was no one there. No one was in the room. At first, I brushed it off as my mind playing tricks on me. It's probably from being tired of the medication, etc. And I lay back down to sleep. About five seconds later, I heard footsteps running toward me.

[00:12:49] I was shoved into the bed full force, couldn't move, and someone screamed into my ear as loudly as you could possibly imagine. This lasted about 10 to 15 seconds and then it stopped. When I finally woke up to the courage to turn around and look at my room, quietly whispering prayers to myself, there was simply nothing there. To this day, I can't explain what happened that night.

[00:13:51] Whoa. Okay, now that one is absolutely terrifying. One thing that I do think that this brings up is the conversation we kind of had with Colin and we had in the Penthurst episode, is that a lot of paranormal places or paranormal haunted places may not be intelligent spirits and it might be energy that's trapped. So, in a place that's like a rehabilitation center, there's a lot of emotions there.

[00:14:19] Lots of people going in for help, people who may not want help, people who do want help. There's, you know, personal demons, not as in like the, you know, biblical kind, but actual like feelings. So, it's a very intense place sometimes. And so, energy can get trapped there. So, if people are there over and over again, this sort of darker energy might be drawn there or trapped in these walls.

[00:14:45] Now, in this instance, this does sound something more like a negative entity. Not necessarily demonic, but it doesn't sound nice and friendly. So, for this particular case, this does sound like an entity that was trying to make itself known and possibly trying to create fear, which is absolutely terrifying. But, either way, I guess it got what it wanted.

[00:15:12] I would be genuinely terrified and I hope that this person is okay because, oh my gosh, I'd pee my pants. 100%. I'd be honest about it. Oof. Okay, let's go to the next one. This one was posted by a user that deleted their profile and it was posted four days ago. Now, I do want to give a warning that this story does include some people taking their own lives. So, if that's something you don't want to hear, just skip on by it. No worries.

[00:15:40] But, I wanted to let you all know before I read this one. This is my story and I'm the main character here. Since childhood, I always live in imagination. I don't know what is happening with me. I don't know what is happening with me.

[00:15:58] I don't know what is happening with me. I don't know what is happening with me. I don't know what is happening with me. I was noticing when I saw a happy family in there. Like, flashes of memories.

[00:16:27] I genuinely felt happy at the time. I didn't go inside that mansion. Just left from there. That night, I was ready to go to sleep. But, I got some flash of memory this time. I saw that family commit suicide. It was so horrible. I thought because of my interest in paranormal things, maybe my brain tricks me. But, that's not true. Next day, I investigate about this.

[00:16:55] And, in that house, the family I saw really did commit suicide. Long time ago. Because they were not able to clear their debts and got in a huge loss. After that, I feel like someone is watching me. I'm still scared every day. It becomes a nightmare to me. I know some unclean thing is like with me. I'm not bluffing or lying. It's true. I just came here to share this thing because it's too much to handle.

[00:17:25] I'm suffering so bad. It's like a curse to me. I just want to run away from everything. It's creepy. I told this thing to my close friend, and she was having the same nightmare as me. It's like a curse chain. Whoever we tell, name of that place and house, everyone. Some of them had a very bad accident. Or, some have the same nightmare we are suffering from. Already four years have passed since then. Everyone is suffering from bad luck and nightmare.

[00:17:59] Well, I wish I had read that before picking the story. So, that's not great. Um, good luck, first off. And second off, I do think that this is a really interesting story. Because this is what some psychic abilities are. We've seen it in TV shows and movies and stuff. But, there are some actual psychics that are able to touch.

[00:18:25] And that's when they pick up on certain emotions, feelings, memories. So, it is possible that this person does have that sort of ability. Um, and was able to touch and feel, again, the paranormal weight that's been trapped in these walls. Um, so, I think this is a really interesting case to talk about mediumship. Now, we'll definitely do an episode eventually on mediums. Um, because it's a huge, huge topic to cover. Which would probably be a couple episodes.

[00:18:55] But, this is a really good introduction on some people having different abilities. And, it seems like this person might have the ability to touch and see the flashes of memories and feel that. It may only work on places with this sort of, uh, really heavy weight to them. And something terrible happening in there. But, who knows? Maybe it happens at other places too. It would be very interesting to hear more of their stories.

[00:19:22] Um, but hopefully we all don't get bad luck and nightmares. Because that would suck from us reading this. Well, I guess from me reading it to you. Sorry. Okay. This next story comes from the user eitherbaby8338. I work as a paramedic and up until recently I didn't believe in ghosts or spirits. I got a call around 10pm at night. Concern for welfare.

[00:19:51] Happens all the time usually in warden controlled properties as they have falls all the time. My colleague wanted to live stream her kids before bed. So I said I'd go into the property on my Todd and call her if I needed backup. I knocked on the door. Met by an old man who asked why I was there. And said he pressed his care call alarm by mistake. I asked if he wanted checking over. To which he responded he had issues with his blood pressure.

[00:20:20] So may as well while I was there. Directly from the front door was the bedroom. The light was on and there was a woman sat up in the bed. She looked at me but didn't say anything. I assumed she had dementia so I just left her to do it. We walked into the lounge and I did my assessment. After my assessment we got into small talk. Weather, what he used to do for a living, etc. And then I asked him about his wife. How long they had been together.

[00:20:50] He responded they had been together for 40 years. Before she sadly passed four years ago. I then apologized and said at least it was nice he had another woman to share his bed with. He then responded back. What woman? I live here alone. I was like, so who was the woman in his bed? And then he replied, F if I know mate. I asked if he could show me a picture of his missus.

[00:21:18] And I, S you not. There she was. The woman. Albeit a bit younger in the picture with him. I walked out of the room and looked in the room again. She wasn't there. I couldn't wait to get the F out of that house. I then proceeded to be dead silent for the rest of my shift. So much that my colleague went to management as she thought it was totally out of character. And that I was suffering with PTSD.

[00:21:46] She didn't believe me when I told her the story. Now that one is creepy. I think paramedics probably have such creepy, creepy stories. And maybe we'll do a full reddit episode on just them. Because, whoa! That's terrifying. Now, I mean, his writing is a little over the place. So he, I'm assuming he's from a different country. Maybe like Australia or something. You know, because of the mate. Could have been English too. But anyway.

[00:22:15] In this one, it's so interesting that he sees it upon entering and it's a casual thing. This seems to be a spirit that was fully formed enough. And probably genuinely shocked as to why he was there as well. This could be one of those sort of spirits that it's a routine thing that this person did. They slept in that room and so she woke up and, you know, was always there. Or this could be an intelligent haunting where she's getting up because she's like, Why is this person here?

[00:22:45] But it's also weird that they got the call for a welfare check, but he didn't press the button or he did by mistake maybe. So, I don't know. But it's definitely creepy. But it's also kind of sweet at the same time that his wife is still there. Like sleeping next to him. So that's kind of sweet. But I wouldn't want to see her. 100% no. Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope. Okay, this next one is from the user cpackage417 and it was posted 18 days ago.

[00:23:16] It's been almost a year now since this happened to me and my ex-best friend. To set the scene, it was almost 4am. My old house was surrounded by trees and it was a long downhill walk to get to the house in the woods. We had snuck out like teenagers do and were currently trying to sneak back down to the house when my friend stopped out of nowhere and tried to get me to stop as well. I looked at her, confused but also scared, as if we had just gotten caught.

[00:23:46] So I looked down to where my dad used to have a shop behind our house. I swear I could make out his image, but it was a shadow that just had his outline. I knew it wasn't my dad, but it was almost like I was in a trance looking at this thing while it slowly dissipated into nothing. My friend and I were both frozen in fear as we heard footsteps coming toward us from the woods.

[00:24:14] We stood there almost under a spell, too scared to move, until I grabbed her hand and knew we just had to run. My dad had cameras, but I didn't care about getting caught anymore. We ran to the back of the house, where there was a back door that was closest to my room. My friend literally fell down the steps like they do in horror movies, dropped her frozen gas station drink,

[00:24:41] and yelled, F it, before rushing to get back up as we locked the door. We quietly shut my bedroom door and started talking about what had just happened. I wanted to know exactly what she saw. She told me that she wasn't looking out back where my dad had his shop. In fact, she didn't see my dad at all. She was looking toward the front porch, and she saw my sister's shadow.

[00:25:07] We both started crying when we realized we had seen the same shadow-like thing. I felt so scared that we looked up spiritual protection ideas, and one suggestion was to put a line of salt across your doorway. So I poured a line of salt in front of my bedroom door. The next night, we went to her house, and we were still talking about what had happened because it was so trippy. We wanted to know for sure that we had seen the same thing, so we both drew it at the same time.

[00:25:37] When we showed each other our drawings, they lined up perfectly. We had even both drawn a second picture, almost like the next frame in an animation showing it disappearing. We sat there a little longer, trying to make sense of it, and wondering why she saw my sister while I saw my dad. I randomly blurted out, What if it was a mimic?

[00:26:04] And my phone suddenly started reading out what a mimic was. I never had Siri set up on my phone, so I was freaked out, and so was she. I moved away from that place a little over seven months ago, and I still think about that experience. I had never felt unsafe inside that house, but I always felt uneasy whenever I stepped outside. Even my ex-boyfriend experienced something strange there.

[00:26:32] One night, he picked me up while I was inside packing a bag. When I came outside, he said he swore he had seen me run past his truck, and told me we needed to get the F out of there immediately. Ooh, okay, that one's terrifying. That one's so scary. Um, because you have a- you have shadow people, and multiple of them, that is mimicking.

[00:26:57] Now, we actually do have a mimic episode slated, so I- I don't want to go too much into what a mimic is, but it did gain a lot of popularity through TikTok and social media. Um, and so a lot of the younger people are sort of seeing this more and more, or reporting it more and more.

[00:27:19] What I will say is that mimics usually are associated with doppelgangers as well, which we have covered, but they're also usually only heard. So this is interesting that these were shadows of those people. Now, it's very possible that this was just a malevolent spirit that was able to take on the shapes of others and use that to instill fear.

[00:27:47] But, it's also possible that this was a bunch of doppelgangers there. Um, I guess the shadows don't really make sense for the doppelgangers, but I don't know. I mean, especially with the boyfriend story, that could have been a doppelganger. You know, he didn't say it was a shadow, he said he saw her. And that's terrifying. But I'm glad that she moved away, because, oh my gosh, or they, sorry, they moved away, because, whew, that is- that one's very, very scary. I like that one a lot.

[00:28:16] Now, we do have one more story, and this one is not from Reddit, because it's actually a listener story. So this was sent in by Hunter, um, and this is his personal story for us to read here on the podcast. My family and I moved into a double wide in our town. Nothing seemed offed when we first moved, from what I remember. I remember seeing the homeowner a few times, and he seemed nice.

[00:28:44] We moved in, and I honestly can't remember when things started happening. I was around the age of five, because this is where I was living when I started school. So these events I'm about to share take place in no particular order. This is just what I can remember. One night, we were coming home, and our neighborhood was one big circle. We were at the beginning of the circle, so when you drove into the neighborhood, you could see the back of our house very clearly until you turned in.

[00:29:13] Well, it was nighttime, and I would always look at the back for some reason. And this time, I noticed one window, which was the window to my parents' master room bathroom. It was lit up from the inside, as if someone left the lights on. Of course, I didn't think much of it, and being a good, my mission was to run and check the light when we got in. Well, when I raced to it, it was off. Not sure what could have been lighting it up.

[00:29:43] It certainly wasn't nothing from outside, because the light was still and only illuminating the window. So, no headlights or streetlights. Next thing I remember is getting home from school one day. Most days, my dad would be home already, but there were a few times he was late from work, and I had to sit outside. Later, they made me a key for those cases. But anyway, this was another keyless, locked out day. So I sat on my front porch waiting.

[00:30:12] I kept hearing a radio. However, it was coming from within the house. So I went up to the front door and put my ear to it. And it sounded like someone flipping through radio stations. You'd hear music, then an ad, and so on. The radio was explained by my dad's alarm clock. He always slept in the living room. Therefore, he had his alarm clock out there. And it had a radio on it.

[00:30:38] As a kid, I thought he left it on or a randomly set alarm went off after everyone had left for the day. But that didn't explain the flipping through channels. He got home and unlocked the door just to find nothing playing. The alarm sat there silently. I don't remember my reaction, but I know I was never freaked out for some reason. I guess it's the innocence of being a child. Well, that all leads up to the big encounter.

[00:31:09] The one where I laid my eyes on something that I'll never forget. To set the scene, it was late one night. And I'm laying in bed with a nightlight near my door that lit up a tiny area. My door was open at the time. To give you a better picture, there was a small step in area that allowed you to step out of the hallway. And then you could either go left into my room or right into the guest room.

[00:31:34] So, from where my bed was, it made a natural corner on one side of the hallway. While I remember laying there, not being able to sleep and just looking around. Then I saw it. A head. Yes, a literal head peeking around the corner. It was completely black. No depth or features. Just a round head. When I seen it, it had pulled back into the darkness and out of sight.

[00:32:05] I stared, confused. Then it popped out again. Every time it popped out, it lasted for about five seconds. And then it tucked away. It was literally a figure peeking around the corner and just staring, even though I couldn't see eyes. The more it went on, the more I was scared. At first, I thought it was my mom because the side of the hallway it was coming from was towards my mom's room. I kept saying, Mama? But it didn't say anything.

[00:32:35] I remember getting so scared but afraid to put my head under the blanket, thinking it would come closer. I stared saying, Mama? Quietly, trying to wake her. She was living with us in the guest bedroom right across from me at the time. After what felt like forever, but was probably no longer than five minutes, I finally heard her voice.

[00:32:57] This thing didn't stop until finally she got up and turned her light on, which illuminated the entire area, basically. I remembered the head disappearing as soon as the light came on. After that, I never did see it again. But to make the story even creepier, my dad had told me that the original owner came home one day to find his wife had suffered cardiac arrest and died in that hallway.

[00:33:25] They weren't that old, my guess probably late 30s. What's even creepier though is, I remember when we were touring that home to buy, that was their kid's room. It had a kid's bed, toys and everything in it. Almost makes me wonder if she was checking on her kid after all that time. Also, we had a lot of trouble with the purchase of the home. The guy apparently wanted out quickly, so quick in fact that all the paperwork got messed up.

[00:33:55] We were making payments and the house wasn't even in the correct name. Makes you wonder why he wanted out so quick. Fast forward many years, we had long moved out because of the bank issues and found a better place anyway. While I was working as a Domino's delivery driver, and one night I get a delivery to that old home. I'm excited, but nervous because this is my chance to ask questions years later.

[00:34:22] The guy answers, he's probably in his mid to late 20s and seems cool. So I ask him, does anything strange happen in this house? His eyes grow wide and his response, all the freaking time dude. I told him I used to live there and that some weird stuff happened then. He said him and his roommates have weird things happening as well, but never seen anything.

[00:34:46] He said the main thing was having kitchen cabinets slam or lights being left on when they get back. His roommate was a drummer and said that his drumsticks get moved around all the time. Having that short combo really made me feel better, knowing that I wasn't seeing things or dreaming. All that stuff was real. One last note I forgot. My dad used to love watching ghost hunting reality shows,

[00:35:12] and he always said when he would watch that kind of stuff, that he would get creeped out, and the hairs on his arms would stand up. He would have to turn it to something else just to feel comfortable. After moving, he had no issues watching that stuff again. So that's my story. Pretty sure I got every detail in there. Thank you. Whoa. Okay, Hunter, that was insane.

[00:35:38] I don't know if anyone watching could tell, but when you're talking about the head peeking around the corner, I literally got so scared. I could like feel next to me and I'm like, oh my gosh, something looking. That's terrifying. That's terrifying. Yeah, I mean the ghosts or the lights being left on is definitely a fairly normal spiritual haunted house thing.

[00:36:00] But the head peeking around is also very common, but it's interesting that you equate it to a mother looking around. Because to me, hearing that, I equate that to a not friendly spirit. A spirit that's actively trying to scare. And you know, there are entities like the hide behind, which that's literally their MO. They hide behind things and peek out. There's shadow people that we've covered and we know do this same exact thing.

[00:36:29] You know, in nature you have the dark watchers in California, which sort of do this as well. And of course you have the hat man that could be doing this, but it seems like this isn't really what he does either. So I don't know what that is. I mean, it's definitely interesting that you were able to go back and literally talk to the people that live there now. And it's interesting. They didn't see anything. And I think that has to do with the fact that you were a kid at the time.

[00:36:55] Because children are more susceptible, whether that's because of fear or whether that's because of some sort of imagination is not lost yet. Or the world has not sort of gotten to their brains to tell them they're not seeing something. But either way, this is a really, really creepy story. I mean, this is definitely the creepiest story we read today, I think. Genuinely freaked me out.
